App Available for the Pacific Presbytery Congregations!

I am pleased to report that Apple has just approved my PoP Churches App for distribution on the Apple iTunes App Store.

The Presbytery of the Pacific Churches (or PoP ChurchesApp highlights all of the churches within our Presbytery, and is available for free on the Apple iTunes App Store using the link below. The PoP Churches App displays the location of all Presbytery Churches on a map view, allowing the user to quickly locate nearby churches, or any selected church within the Presbytery. The user can also search for churches by name, city, state, and language spoken.

The PoP Churches App provides key information on every PoP church, including language spoken, times of worship, the pastor’s name, a photo of the church, a detailed map of the church’s location, step-by-step directions to the church  from the user’s current location, and ability to phone (on iPhone) and send emails to churches, as well as view church websites, Facebook pages, and Twitter pages (and translations of non-English websites) directly from within the PoP Churches App.

Additional features include a brief tutorial, local weather information, the ability to insert church contact information into your iOS Contacts App (aka Address Book), and the ability to view church websites in the mobile Safari App.

When viewed on an iPad the PoP Churches App displays a small photo of the church’s senior pastor, provided that the pastor has supplied me with a photo for use in the App or given me approval to use the existing Presbytery photo we have on file. As App updates are made, I would be glad to include additional senior pastor photos if the pastors provide a photo or give me permission to use the photos on file.

The PoP Churches App is a Universal App designed for both the iPhone and iPad, and is targeted for iOS 7. Version 1.0 of the PoP Churches App, currently available in the iTunes App store, is also functional with iOS 8 (to be officially released by Apple this Wednesday – September 17th) as well as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (to be released by Apple this FridaySeptember 19th). However, I have submitted to Apple for their approval a revised version of the PoP Churches App which takes full advantage of iOS 8 (and incorporates a few corrections and minor bug fixes). This revision, which is still compatible with iOS 7, should be available within a couple of weeks.

Please report any errors that you find in the church information to me at the above email address or using the error reporting form available in the PoP Churches App. I would like to provide as accurate information as possible on our Presbytery’s churches.

A  PoP Churches User’s Manual and additional information is available at http://www.grwsystems.com/popchurches

Blessings to all,
George Wilde
